“It’s like doing pushups for the brain.” Sound familiar? Maybe because it echoes the motto of The Sitting Project: “Like Going To The Gym For Your Mind”. But the statement comes from 58-year old Maj. Gen. Melvin Spiese, according to an Associated Press article.

“‘Mindfulness-based Mind Fitness Training’ or ‘M-Fit’ was designed by former U.S. Army Capt. Elizabeth Stanley, a professor at Georgetown University who found relief doing yoga and meditation for her PTSD.” And The Marines are currently testing the meditative practice for incorporation into training for all Marines in the future to both make them better soldiers as well as make them more able to deal with the stresses that they encounter.
