The Sitting Project, along with Dharma Junkies in NYC is organizing two public sits, one in Denver on Sunday June 7th, 2015 and one Saturday November 7th, 2015 in New York City. If you want to know why meditation in public is awesome, in addition to often being a profound personal experience and a great way to promote awareness of mindfulness meditaiton, read this article about it:

DENVER, CO June 7th:
The first sit will be for 30 minutes in Denver at Commons Park, across from Ink! Coffee on Little Raven Street on June 7th, 2015 starting at 4pm.
Afterwards for anyone interested, we will walk over to Ale House in LoHi for a bite and a bit of socializing. If there are just a few of us, we will find something a bit smaller.
New York City, November 7th:
The second sit will be in conjunction with meditation teacher Joe Mauricio’s Dharma Junkies in Times Square in NYC, Saturday November 7th starting at 1pm. This sit will be held by the red steps in the middle of Times Sq for about 30 minutes. There will be an optional post sit gathering at a restaurant TBD.
All are invited to join and no experience necessary but we do recommend that you bring something to sit on (helps keep your posture comfortable). Our purpose in sitting is not to protest anything but simply to raise awareness and compassion in ourselves and to promote the practice of sitting meditation at large. People are free to join and leave the sits as their schedule allows.
For questions on either sit, contact C.T. Tamura of The Sitting Project at carytamura (at) gmail (dot) com
